Waste Transfer Station Setup

Our custom Waste Transfer Station allows our team to sort your rubbish on site meaning we can ensure that as little of your waste goes to landfill. Our commitment is to ensure we reuse and recycle 90%+ of all items cleared

Glass

Recycled glass can be reused over and over again without a loss of quality. Very little waste is generated from the recycling and manufacturing process. However it does not decompose and therefore puts a strain on landfill which is why we ensure we recycle all glass

Card & Paper

We sort through all the card and paper on site ensuring all the newspapers, white paper, magazines, telephone directories and any junk mail and flyers are sent to be recycled. It only takes seven days for a recycled newspaper to come back as a new one and every ton of papepr recycled saves 17 trees

Metals

Recycling cans saves up to 95% of the energy it takes to make new aluminium and steel from raw materials. Metal is 100% recyclable and can be recycled over and over again. We take great care to make sure we avoid any metals going to landfill.

Plastics

Plastics are bad!! Well actually not all of them. A Lot of plastic is recyclable. They are also incredibly durable meaning they last longer for the job that we designed them for. The issue is when they need to be disposed of. We are experts at all things plastic and will make sure as little if any of this will go to landfill. After all it takes about 500 years to decompose.

Mixed Waste

Typically anything that is classed as mixed waste cannot be 'easily' recycled. This is the station we try to keep to the smallest pile. Not all of it will go to landfill and we will look to dispose or recycle as much as possible making sure that we reduce your environmental footprint.

Most house clearance businesses will clear the property and claim they then sort the waste from the recyclables. This happens a lot with skip hire services who will likely take any full loads straight to landfill rather than checking what could be reused.

This obviously isn't good for the environment which is why we sort all waste at the property, on site and with full transparency about what will be recycled and what will have to go to landfill.

  • Arrival: When we arrive at a property we fully check and assess the areas that need clearing. Once we have looked at the what, how and where we will be working we cover and remove any valuable possessions to ensure that anything of value is protected.
  • Setup: Once the area is cleared of valuables we then setup a Waste Transfer Station to ensure we separate any Metals, Glass, Plastics, Card, Mixed Waste, Wood and non recyclable materials at the property.
  • Large Items: Whilst the Waste Transfer Station is in use we will then look to clear any larger items ready for reuse or disposal.
  • Cleaning: Once the clearance and Waste Transfer Station has been removed we will clear any accesses rubbish and the lave the property as we would expect it to be left. Clean, Clear and Tidy.

How do you work out the price for a clearance?

There are three factors that influence the cost. 1. The labour required. 2. The cost of disposal and recycling of the items cleared. 3. The resale value of the items to be cleared. Once we have assessed the job we calculate the price. All our prices are fully inclusive of all costs, so there are no hidden extras. How Long Does a House Clearance Take?

This can depend on the size of the house and the types of objects that we will be clearing. As a rough guide a Small house will take anywhere between 1/2 a day to 2 days to clear

How much experience do you have?

We have over 5 years in clearance and house rubbish removal services

How much notice do you need?

Usually a week is plenty of notice. However we are here to help if you need to get a job done at very short notice (under 24hrs). So don’t worry if you have an urgent job, we will do everything possible to meet your deadline. Emergency prices may be applied.

How much waste to you take to landfill?

Our aim is to try and take around 0-10% of our waste to landfill to reduce our ecological footprint

Is there anything you can’t clear?

At present no apart from asbestos. However some hazardous materials such as paint, noxious chemicals, solvents and medical waste require additional costs to dispose of which we will happily discuss subject to requirements. 

What happens if there is more or less stuff in the house than we estimated?

For a variety of reasons the size of the clearance can be changed right up to the last minute. We understand this and simply adjust the price accordingly. We will check and assess on arrival.

What sort of furniture and effects have a value?

Antiques, art, collectables and high quality designer furniture are the items that have enough resale value to offset against the costs of clearance. 

We do make sure good quality second hand furniture finds a home, but it usually doesn’t have much value. We are however very happy to give advice on how to sell secondhand furniture in cases where we think someone else may pay more than we will. We will also help you get it reused by recommending local free-cycle initiatives.

Until we can assess exactly how long the job will take, what if any residual value there is, and what our recycling / disposal costs are going to be we can’t give a precise quote. We give estimates over the phone. Because we have over 5 years experience in pricing up clearance jobs, we are accurate with our estimations 95 % of the time. In the unlikely event the actual quote is increased once we have assessed the job on site, there is no obligation on your part to instruct us to carry out the work.
